Purchasing safety-related equipment.

Dear colleagues,

Unfortunately, there are always situations on board where

safety-relevant equipment such as pilot ladders, lifebuoys,

IMO labels, fire extinguishers do not meet the

requirements or are in poor condition.

The feedback from the captain is very often: We ordered it

but haven't received it yet...

The captain of a ship is responsible for the safety of

everyone on board!

This also includes pilot, agent and other external visitors.

The protection of these people on board must be always

the highest priority.

Therefore, it is necessary that defective safety equipment

is replaced in time.

At nearly every port you could purchase common safety equipment through local agencies and

ship chandlers if vessel`s order is on short notice or delay is announced by HLB Purchase

Department.

All our ships are equipped with sufficient cash, so captains` can react quickly and independently

when important equipment is needed to be arranged immediately, to avoid operational disruptions

such as accidents, technical incidents, and/or resulting in PSC detentions.

For example, the pilot ladder on board is in poor condition or close to the expiry date and

the order has been not issued or supply is delay, you can place a request to local agency

for supply.

For good and sake order please inform your colleagues at purchasing department about cost for

their records and confirmation.

Last but not least:

Defective and unusable equipment must be removed from the ship immediately.
