Dear colleagues on board,
It happens again and again that when loading cargo, this or parts of the cargo are damaged.
Wood pulp, coils, plywood and the like are a typical example of this.
This damage, even if only to the packaging, must be recorded in the Mates Receipt or, if possible, even in the BL.
The same applies if the cargo is heavily contaminated or wet.
Make a note of everything abnormal about the cargo in the Mates Receipt or, if possible, in the BL!
If you don't do this, it will be very difficult or even impossible to avoid claims for compensation from the recipient of the cargo later.
So don't let your cargo out of your sight and make a note of any damage!
